John is a Director of Wickland Westcott with responsibility for Client Service and Innovation across all service lines. He specialises in leadership assessment, development and coaching. He is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with extensive experience of working with CEOs, Directors, and High Potential leaders.

As well as working with C-suite individuals John has particular expertise in the facilitation and development of senior teams. John’s clients particularly appreciate his ability to develop creative solutions that deliver practical results, and the care, insight and professionalism he brings to his work.

John operates across a variety of sectors and has long standing relationships with market leading organisations within retail, finance, defence, transport, and FMCG, as well as within key areas of the public sector. He has led many extensive assessment, development and transformation projects, supporting organisations through restructures and culture change. John has a degree in Psychology with Business and a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology. He also has a Certificate of Performance Coaching from the ‘School of Coaching’ in London.

Maddy is an experienced Psychologist, whose passion lies in identifying and developing leadership talent. She has many years of experience assessing senior executives, both in commercial organisations and at top levels in the public sector. Personally, and alongside her team, Maddy has provided psychological insights to make senior level appointments, to develop upcoming leaders and to prompt behavioural change. She also has considerable commercial experience herself, having worked for private owned and PE backed companies. Maddy is a former Partner and Head of Assessment & Development at an executive resourcing firm. She saw the business and its clients through significant periods of change and grew a successful team of specialists who led large scale assessment programmes for major public bodies. She has an MSc, is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. She also holds qualifications in psychological testing.

Liz Lawson

Liz specializes in the assessment and development of leaders. Her core expertise includes designing and delivering leadership assessment and development programmes, coaching leaders, and facilitating senior teams. She is actively involved in designing Organisational Development solutions such as capability frameworks, appraisal and interview toolkits. Liz works with a range of clients across both the private and public sectors, with a high proportion of her time dedicated to the Higher Education sector, where she helps Universities strengthen the capability of their leaders.

With an Honours degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology, Liz holds level A and B certificates in psychometric testing and is well-versed in a variety of psychometric tools. Previously a recruitment consultant in the Accountancy and Finance Industry, Liz specialised in the selection of senior finance professionals for SME and blue chip clients and managed recruitment teams.

Laurence is a Consultant specialising in Search, Selection and Assessment, who has led on assignments for leading international firms. He has over 15 years’ experience in search and worked in commercial and industrial sectors prior to specialising in public appointments. He has led on the recruitment of top teams and non-executives, as well as designing and delivering assessment centres and team building events.

An experienced line manager in the Public Sector, after an early career in retail sales Laurence worked for a number of local authorities and for 10 years was Director of HR for Manchester Airport plc.

A languages graduate, Laurence holds level A and B certificates (BPS) in occupational testing. A former chair of the Manchester Branch and Fellow of the CIPD, he chairs the Manchester Industrial Relations Society.

Professor Damian Hughes is the author of six best-selling books, including Liquid Thinking, Liquid Leadership, How to Change Absolutely Anything and How to Think Like Sir Alex Ferguson. A specialist in ‘change’, he takes the psychological methods used by great achievers and shows, in easy steps, how individuals can adopt them into their own life and business.

Damian particularly enjoys using the inspirational messages identified in his books within key-note presentations, team events and one-to-one coaching. As well as consulting with a range of businesses and leaders on change management he also works as a sports psychologist for Sale Sharks, West Bromwich Albion, France Rugby League, Warrington Wolves, England and GB Rugby League teams. Damian runs a Manchester inner-city youth club, Collyhurst and Moston which has helped young people find a purpose in their lives, with notable achievements including Olympic medal success.

Damian was appointed as a Professor of Organisational Psychology and Change for Manchester Metropolitan University in September 2010, and was also nominated for the 2007 William Hill Sports book of the year award for Peerless, his biography of boxing great Sugar Ray Robinson. In 2013, his latest biography, Marvelous Marvin Hagler became the UK’s best selling sports biography.

Rachel is a Leadership Consultant specialising in the assessment and development of senior and emerging leaders. With a background in designing tailored assessment and development materials as part of wider programmes, this has also included creating competency behaviours and frameworks. Rachel is motivated by working in partnership with clients to deliver high quality solutions which reflect the culture and ongoing themes and challenges within organisations. She has worked with a variety of clients across private and public sectors, including: Universities, Retail, Transport, Financial Services, Electronics, Telecommunications, Energy, Police and Fire Services, Water Authorities and Food Manufacturing.

Rachel has a degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology. She is a Chartered Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council and holds Level A and B certificates in psychometric testing.

Jerome Bull

Jerome is a Search Consultant working out of our Cheshire office and heads up our Industry Practice. He has extensive experience of recruiting up to Board level across most functions in a variety of sectors including fmcg/food, building products, aerospace, defence, automotive, utilities, engineering and industrial/B2B services. He is comfortable working with organisations of all sizes from SMEs to large corporations and has a track record of successfully delivering challenging projects both within the UK and overseas.

Prior to joining Wickland Westcott in 1998, he gained a breadth of HR/in-house resourcing experience working in the telecoms and retail sectors with Caudwell Communications (Phones 4U) and Co-operative Retail Services (CRS).

Jerome has a degree in Psychology from the University of Manchester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Birmingham Business School. He also holds BPS level A and B certificates in Psychometric Testing.

Beth Armstrong

Beth is a Chartered Member of the CIPD with a wealth of HR, change management, talent, team and leadership development expertise. Her experience spans a range of sectors including FMCG, manufacturing, IT outsourcing, supply chain, NHS, banking and professional services.

She has held operational, transformational and strategic roles including leading People/Culture related work streams for major restructuring projects, facilitating the development of business strategies and plans, designing and delivering leadership development initiatives, implementing assessment and career development solutions, and outplacement provision. She has led HR and L&D teams.

Beth has a keen interest in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and is an accredited INLPTA Trainer and Master Practitioner. She actively uses this in driving behavioural change, through coaching and developing individuals and business teams. Her main aim is to enable people and organisations to be the most flexible, resilient and resourceful that they can be in an ever-changing and complex business world.

Beth is also BPS level A and B qualified and certified in psychometric instruments.

Family time, in particular supporting her daughter’s keen gymnastics interest (she’s even been known to attempt some moves herself with varying degrees of success!). Beth enjoys reading business articles, journals, psychology and NLP related books.

As a Leadership Consultant, Rachel designs and delivers flagship assignments to help clients identify and develop their leadership talent. These include high potential, succession, career development and executive coaching programmes with major UK and global brands. She is passionate about partnering with clients to understand their world, ensuring that Wickland Westcott helps create value for leaders, their teams and their organisations.

As a member of the Business Operations Team, Rachel’s responsibilities also include contributing to the delivery of Wickland Westcott’s growth strategy. With extensive experience in professional service environments, Rachel previously worked for AstraZeneca, where she delivered a range of assignments including strategic HR projects and outplacement support.

Rachel holds a degree in Human Resource Management, and Level A & B qualifications in psychometrics. She is an Associate of the CIPD.

Adam is a Search Consultant in our London office and is responsible for our Marketing and Digital Practice.

Prior to joining Wickland Westcott, Adam worked for Fortune Hill as Director of the Media and Entertainment Practice where he led Board level and senior management searches in Marketing, Digital and Commercial functions.

Adam’s early career was spent working for Arsenal FC, where he held senior Commercial and Marketing roles. He then joined Michael Page where he led a team that specialised in Marketing services and the media sector.

Adam specialises in Marketing, Digital and Commercial searches for a broad range of clients across consumer, media and online sectors. He has worked extensively with global FTSE organisations, AIM listed and VC and PE backed growth companies, identifying leadership to fill senior management positions across the UK and Europe.

He graduated with a First Class MBA in Football Industries from Liverpool University.
