Payroll Manager – Interim / Utilities
Our client, a multinational energy services organisation, had lost key staff from its Payroll Department and was also about to undertake reviewing its payroll systems and processes to enable a more efficient service for its employees. Wickland Westcott discussed with the company the benefits of engaging an interim Payroll Manager with experience of outsourced payroll services and a track record of improving payroll processes.
Our client needed to engage an interim quickly and, as such, we focussed on finding a payroll expert who was immediately available and locally based. Given the nature of the role, it was also important that we identified an interim who had the ability and experience to consider the strategic agenda but who was also able to work in a "hands on" manner, addressing specific day-to-day problems and employee queries to enhance the internal perception of the payroll service.
Within two days of receiving the assignment brief, Wickland Westcott had identified an experienced Payroll Manager who within less than a week, was about to become available. The candidate was based locally, had the right mix of strategic and operational experience and the "can do" approach along with excellent communication skills. An interview was arranged and contracts agreed within a few days. The interim produced meaningful results and an improvement in service levels within the first week of the assignment. The interim contract was then extended beyond its original three month horizon to encompass a wider remit.
Wickland Westcott have adopted the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Executive Search Firms which, amongst other things, sets a minimum expectation level for gender diversity for each search assignment.
