Camelot - Fit for the Future

CamelotCamelot has successfully won the licence to operate the lottery for a third time and has completely upgraded its network of retail playstations, connecting over 27,500 retailers via a brand new communications network.

Camelot has also sought to underpin its continued growth and success by reorganising major functions such as Sales, IT, Marketing, Finance, Programmes and Legal. Camelot chose to work with Wickland Westcott to help them ensure the right candidates were appointed within their new structure by implementing an accurate, fair, rigorous and objective assessment process.

Wickland Westcott worked with Camelot to develop a bespoke approach that included a mixture of psychometric tests and questionnaires, and individual job specific interview guides. At the heart of the process was the production of an individual report on each candidate based on their responses to a personality questionnaire. The reports contained specific notes against key competencies and included a series of individual probe questions for interviewers to validate the personality data.

Over 80 different interview guides were prepared and over 400 reports written within a 4 week timeframe. Wickland Westcott's Talent Management team also provided focussed training to over 40 senior managers on recruitment best practice, how to use interview guides and how to interpret the psychometric data to make selection decisions. This assignment therefore also presented a significant project management challenge, and put the focus on partnership working, clear communication and the development of practical solutions.
