Bentley Motors - Finding the Best People
With over 60 years of production at the Crew based factory, Bentley Motors continues to push the boundaries of automotive excellence with its highly successful Arnage and Continental series. The latest addition to the Continental range, the Continental Flying Spur Speed, is the fastest four-door Bentley with a top speed of 200mph.
Keith Miller from our Industry Practice explains how Wickland Westcott is contributing to the success story.
An Automotive Legend
Since the acquisition by VW in 1998, Bentley has progressed to become a modern, dynamic and highly influential brand within the industry. A key element has been the introduction of innovative design engineering programmes, culminating in the introduction of new models to the Bentley portfolio. The investment continues, and with the help of Wickland Westcott, Bentley is currently strengthening its new product development and engineering resource.
The Road to Success
Cutting-edge technical knowledge is essential in the new recruits, but Bentley demands more from its people: "We need to ensure that the functional and technical experience is appropriate for the specific role, but also that the behaviours new recruits exhibit are in line with the distinctive Bentley culture" say John Milsom of Wickland Westcott. He continues: "We designed an assessment programme for Bentley that allows a deeper and more accurate understanding of candidate behaviour. In short, it enables us to pick up the best people for the job, and it does so fairly and consistently. This will help ensure cohesion and enhanced performance in the engineering teams, contributing to the development of high performance motor cars for this iconic marque." Bentley has been delighted with the quality of service: "The team at Wickland Westcott is totally professional, is delivering against our expectations, and is aligned with our brand" concluded Bentley's Alex Hughes, Recruitment Officer.
